Hello Everyone,
I just called the National Forest and was told the deadline for comments is August 18. I have reviewed the alternatives and in them Alternative 1 (no
action) gives HLV's (Highway Licensed Vehicles) 4,086 miles to ride on while Alternative 2 gives HLV's 1,543 miles to ride on and Alternative 3 gives HLV's 1,587 miles to ride on. Therefore, I am submitting a letter stating Alternative 1 as the choice by the Wisconsin Four Wheel Drive Association.
However, am stating the fact that it appears there are still trails not listed even on the map for Alternative 1. I go on with other comments I dispute in the evaluation of what was looked at and not looked at. I would highly recommend that each a every one of you respond to this EA. You can review the whole program and come up with your conclusions by going to fs.fed.us/r9/cnnf and clicking on Travel Management Project Environmental Assessment.
Send a letter to: Responsible Official Jeanne Higgins, Forest Supervisor,
Attn: Travel Management Project EA, 1170 4th Avense S, Park Falls, WI
544552 or FAX 715-762-5179 OR send an e-mail to:
comments-eastern-chequamegon-nicolet@fs.fed.us with the subject line stating "Travel Management Project".
If you do not wish to go through the review and come up with your own conclusions and agree with mine, at least respond by sending in a response per what I have given you for info above. It is amazing that the last review only generated 175 comments so you can see your comments can count--it isn't lost in the abyss of thousands.
Please forward to parties who may be interested in supporting as much access as possible to HLV's in the National Forest. This includes hunters, fishermen, birdwatchers, berry pickers, wildflower searchers, geocaching etc.
